Do you have a friend who is a writer and who has published one or more books either with a small, independent press or self-published, and have you read your friend’s book(s) and enjoyed them enough to honestly recommend them? If so, then please do so. Recommend them publicly on Facebook and/or other social media and on sites such as Goodreads. Post customer reviews on amazon.
This might seem like a small thing, but it is important, and this is why. Major publishing houses spend thousands of dollars promoting their books, and they get them placed (with guaranteed returns) in bookstores all over the country. Writers who self-publish or publish with independent presses can’t do that. They can’t even get bookstores to put them on their shelves unless they go in person and ask them to take them on consignment. And not every bookstore will even do that.
So, your friend has published a book, but nobody knows it, and the only way anybody can find out about it is if you recommend it. This is important. Please do it.
